Knee services

The knee is made up of many components and structures which play an essential role in movement and function of the lower limb.
The knee joint itself is prone to injury as it is very complex. Pain and discomfort may occur in the knee over the course of time and interfere with every day activities such as walking and getting up from a chair. An arthritic joint may cause pain and restrict movement of the knee. Knee problems are very common and injuries can occur in people of all ages.

Sporting and recreational activities may also contribute to deterioration of the knee joint. An initial injury may be treated with Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation, however your doctor may refer you to a specialist for assessment of your knee to provide diagnosis and recommend treatment options.
Following examination Mr Kozak will provide treatment options specific to the condition of your knee.
Further radiological investigations and MRI may be required to determine the extent of your knee injury.
Anatomy of the knee

The knee joint comprises of the Femur (thigh bone) and the Tibia (shin). The Fibula is the smaller bone running alongside the Tibia. The Patella (knee cap) completes the knee joint. Two C shaped pieces of cartilage between the knee joint act as shock absorbers to the knee. These are the medial and lateral menisci.
Ligaments join the knee bones and provide knee stability. The tendons connect to the leg muscles which enable the knee joint to move.
